A 34-year-old man wanted in Starke County for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender has been arrested at a gas station in Riverdale, Illinois, following a joint investigation with U.S. Marshals. Brandyn Garbison was booked into the Cook County Jail on October 20, where he is being held without bond while awaiting extradition proceedings.
Richard Alan Gast, 60, of Knox, was arrested Monday following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office says Gast faces four felony charges, including two counts of rape, and is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
Starke County commissioners have adopted an ordinance banning commercial data centers in all zoning districts under the county Plan Commission’s jurisdiction. The ordinance also restricts certain industrial cooling systems and infrastructure intended to support prohibited data centers, citing concerns about water resources, electricity demands and rural development.
