According to the utility, 345,934 customers have had power restored since the start of the event. NIPSCO reported 374,500 total outages to date since Aug. 11.

NIPSCO also released updated estimated restoration times for several communities.

On Sunday, Aug. 23, NIPSCO expects a majority of remaining customers in Lake Station and Hobart to be restored by 11:59 p.m. CT.

Munster is estimated to have a majority of remaining customers restored by 11:59 p.m. CT Monday, Aug. 24.

Gary and Portage are estimated to have a majority of remaining customers restored by 11:59 p.m. CT Tuesday, Aug. 25.

NIPSCO said the estimates represent when it expects a majority of remaining customers in those communities to be restored. Individual outages may extend beyond those times, and estimates may change as work progresses.

The utility said communities not listed may be included within a larger service area or may still be under assessment.

NIPSCO also said a transmission equipment failure earlier Sunday created additional outage impacts and required emergency repairs. Restoration estimates were adjusted for some customers in East Chicago while crews complete the necessary work.
