Two vehicles were removed from the St. Joseph River on Tuesday as crews completed recovery work connected to separate incidents from earlier this year.
Both vehicles had been confirmed to be free of occupants at the time of the earlier incidents.
SBFD said crews had been waiting for appropriate water levels, current speed and weather conditions before completing the recoveries. Those conditions were necessary to minimize risks to divers and boat operators.
The recovery operation was a joint effort between the South Bend Fire Department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
