Triton Jr. Sr. High School announced Thursday, October 8, that its varsity girls basketball head coach has resigned, effective immediately.

The resignation comes just one day after a meeting with parents and players on Wednesday, October 7.

According to the school’s announcement, the coach informed Triton administration of the decision Thursday afternoon.

School officials acknowledged that the news may come as a surprise, particularly following Wednesday’s meeting.

The school did not identify the departing coach or provide a reason for the resignation.

Triton administration says its priority now is to identify a new head coach who will serve the best interests of student-athletes and support the continued development of the girls basketball program.

The school also acknowledged that the unexpected change may feel like a setback, but emphasized its commitment to providing student-athletes with a positive, competitive and supportive experience.
