Demolition plans have been filed for the vacant Red Rock Inn at 2550 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth, according to a notification received by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
The project is scheduled to begin with asbestos removal ahead of the building’s demolition. The filing lists 600 square feet of Category I nonfriable asbestos material and 20 linear feet of Category II nonfriable asbestos material for removal.
The asbestos removal period is scheduled to run from September 14 through September 21. The filing states that no grinding or sanding of asbestos will take place at the site. If unexpected asbestos is discovered, work will be stopped while the material is contained and a licensed asbestos professional is contacted.
Once the asbestos work is completed, demolition of the Red Rock Inn could begin as early as September 23 and continue through October 21.
MSC has contacted the City of Plymouth to confirm the exact demolition start date and whether the necessary local permits or approvals have been issued. A response had not been received at the time of publication.
