According to Plymouth Police, a traffic stop early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a South Bend man accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Police said officers initiated the traffic stop at approximately 1:07 a.m. Sept. 27 near Plymouth-Goshen Trail and Hope Boulevard because of a traffic violation.

After speaking with the driver, identified as 38-year-old Daniel Perkins of South Bend, officers suspected he was impaired and conducted an investigation.

Police said the investigation found Perkins had been operating at more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

Perkins was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where police said he was booked for operating a vehicle with a BAC of 0.15 or greater.

They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
