Plymouth Police and Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Markley Drive and Western Avenue at 3:14 a.m. on September 12 after a caller reported observing a vehicle into a utility pole and the male driver bleeding from his mouth.
According to the Plymouth Police Department release, the officer observed the male driver was conscious and speaking, but with slurred speech and red glassy eyes.
During the investigation it was discovered that the driver had traveled south bound from the parking area for Chicago Mattress and through the grass clear until he collided into a set of guide wires for a NIPSCO pole at the corner of Markley Dr and Western Ave.
The driver identified as Angel Gracia was examined at the scene for injuries and he signed a refusal. During that time there was also an odor of suspected alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
The officer transported Angel to the hospital where through a search warrant for his blood alcohol content it was discovered that he tested .239%. Angel was also treated for an injury to his lip and cleared.
The officer transported Angel to the Marshall County Jail where he was lodged for OWI - Endangering and OWI - with a BAC of .15% or more. He was given a $1505.00 cash bond.
