Sheriff’s Office Notified of Deceased Individual Near Aroma Park Storm Damage

Authorities in Kankakee County are investigating after a deceased individual was discovered inside a storm-damaged residence near Aroma Park following Tuesday night’s tornado.

According to officials, sheriff’s deputies were notified at approximately 4:24 PM Thursday of a possible deceased individual believed to be connected to the tornado damage that occurred earlier in the week.

Deputies responded to the location where Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner also arrived on scene. The coroner confirmed that the individual had died. Officials say the victim was located inside a residence that had been damaged by the tornado.

At this time, authorities say the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office are working to notify the victim’s next of kin.

Because of that process, officials say additional details are being withheld for now.

The death comes as crews and investigators continue assessing damage from the powerful storms and tornado that moved through the region Tuesday night, leaving destruction across parts of Kankakee County.

Officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
