SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ISSUED FOR KOSCIUSKO & WABASH COUNTIES

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kosciusko and Wabash counties until 2:30 PM EDT Monday.
At 1:43 PM EDT, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm near Akron, near Rochester, moving northeast at approximately 45 MPH.
Forecasters say the storm is capable of producing:
- Wind gusts up to 60 MPH
- Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning
- Small hail
The primary concern with this storm is damaging winds that could bring down trees and cause damage to roofs and siding.
Communities impacted include Warsaw, Wabash, North Manchester, Winona Lake, Akron, North Webster, Pierceton, Mentone, Silver Lake, Etna Green, Roann, Claypool, Lagro, Burket, Sidney, Big Barbee Lake, Ridinger Lake, Monoquet, Richvalley, and Hoffman Lake.
Residents in the warning area are urged to move indoors immediately and shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
The National Weather Service also warns that dangerous lightning is occurring with this storm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
