A recent social media post from NIPSCO highlighting lineworker pay is drawing criticism online, as some users question how the information is being presented.
The post states that in 2025, the average NIPSCO lineworker earned approximately $226,000, with top earners making more. The graphic links to a company webpage for additional information.
However, some social media users have pushed back on the post, raising concerns about how the “average” is calculated and whether the messaging reflects total compensation, including overtime and other incentives.
Others have also pointed to executive compensation, noting publicly available filings show NiSource CEO Lloyd Yates received more than $12 million in total compensation in 2024, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The post comes amid an ongoing labor dispute involving union workers, which has drawn increased attention across Northern Indiana.
As of now, NIPSCO has not publicly responded to the criticism circulating online.
