Residents visiting local parks this spring are being reminded to use caution around Canada geese as nesting season gets underway across the region.
Park officials say geese are currently nesting and raising goslings, making them especially protective of their nests and young. People are urged to keep their distance and avoid approaching geese during this time of year.
The reminder is especially important in areas like Price’s Pond, where geese are commonly seen throughout the season.
Officials also noted that the park department does not remove the geese, saying the parks are their home as well. Visitors are encouraged to respect wildlife, remain aware of their surroundings, and give nesting geese plenty of space.
Spring is one of the most active times of year for geese in local parks, and giving them room can help prevent aggressive behavior while keeping both people and wildlife safe.
