Community Presence Planned Ahead of Hebron Data Center Town Hall

April 13, 2026 at 4:27:08 PM

A public Town Hall regarding the proposed Hebron Data Center is scheduled for Thursday evening at Lowell High School.

According to information shared by community members, the meeting will be hosted by the petitioner and will not include an opportunity for in-person public comment.

Ahead of the event, some residents are planning a peaceful, visible presence to raise awareness about concerns tied to the proposal. Those concerns include potential impacts on water, land, and regional infrastructure.

The proposal has drawn particular attention due to its location over a waterway connected to the Kankakee River system. That system is part of a larger watershed that flows into the Illinois River and ultimately the Mississippi River Basin.

Organizers of the planned presence say participants are encouraged to remain respectful and gather in public areas off school grounds, including spaces across the street, to ensure a safe and lawful environment.

Those participating in opposition to the project have indicated they will be wearing green.

The community presence is expected to begin at 5 p.m. Central Time, with the Town Hall scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Lowell High School.
